Over the past few months, Microsoft has been working with developers to make universal apps for Windows. We have seen universal apps that work across smartphone as well as desktop. Now it’s Xbox’s turn. Microsoft will be unveiling universal Xbox apps at its developer conference Build later this month, Phil Spencer has announced.

The Redmond, Washington-based company plans to unveil a number of universal Xbox apps at Build. The company will understandably open the platform to developers, inviting them to leverage the opportunity.

In a bid to bring uniformity and responsiveness across different platforms while also making it easier for developers to port their apps from one product category to another, Microsoft has been actively working on Universal Windows Platform. But until now, Xbox was out of the picture. Developers could make an app for the gaming platform, but it wasn’t universal. That would change come this Build.
